Fathers-Family-and Street Fare
Whether it's a reunion, casual get together, or celebration there is always a story behind each class in the Crème Kitchen.
Tonight's class was extra special- a Father's Day Celebration with street tacos two ways, guacamole, chips, & sopapillas. Pacifico & Margaritas provided by the guest of honor (a great addition to this fantastic menu).
The evening began with sharing our favorite Mexican restaurants, dishes, and secrets while the guest of honor helped prepare home made chips and guacamole... Yum!
Another one of these wonderful fathers got his hands dirty as we moved onto my jalapeño slaw. This provides a crisp and fresh flavor while adding a little extra spice to the evening...and pork tacos!
With aromas of the slow-cooked pork for our carnitas tacos making us all feel like we are truly south of the border, we switch gears to get our other tacos started!
We threw corn in the oven and grill peppers and onion to create the amazing charred corn to top our shrimp tacos.
The carnitas pork is placed on the corn tortilla & topped with the colorful jalapeño slaw while the shrimp is placed on a flour tortilla topped with the charred corn creating a plate that truly tells the "tale of two tacos".
Finishing the night we enjoyed sopapillas with cajeta. This delightful dessert has just the right amount of sweet brown sugar and a hint of cinnamon that will satisfy the sweetest sweet tooth ;-)
What a wonderful family this is! I truly enjoyed having you in my kitchen and hearing all the great family stories and traditions you shared.
Thank you for sharing your celebration with me!
xoxo
