A Night Out At Memoir
I love to hook up my Crème foodies with not only great recipes and food ideas but also with where to find amazing local food in Omaha!
A Spring Update
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone! I have so much to catch you all up on! Updates on me and the family, the Creme Cottage, what’s in store for the future, and of course a recipe to share with all my Creme foodies! We started the end of last year of course with a big move, and I was so happy to share the progress with you all! Since then, we’ve definitely settled into our little forested nook, and are eagerly awaiting the change in color this coming spring.
Pumpkins, Potatoes, and Pretty Lights
Happy Saturday, guys! Fall has finally shown its pretty face here today and we have a beautiful week ahead, so why not blog about a few very pretty, very beautiful things?!? I thought it would be fun to give you a sneak peek of some lighting in the Creme Cottage, take a look at my temporary Fall porch, and at the same time don’t forget I’ll share a beautiful recipe for some crispy oven-roasted potatoes. Cajun-style to be exact! So let’s get started...
Cooking in an Unfinished Kitchen
How does one cook without running water or electricity?? Today, I sure found out!! In a little picnic outing in our new house build, I find the best way to cook in an unfinished kitchen! I got some inspiration from the beautiful sights around the property and created an equally beautiful Pesto & Cream Cheese Prosciutto Flatbread. It was to die for!! Hope you all enjoy!
Dog Days on Lake Poinsett
As the summer winds down and kids are getting ready to go back to school, we tried to eek out one more weekend at the lake. And as usual, it did not disappoint! Weather was warm and the water was like glass. Perfect for paddle boards. Even Chompers had to partake in the beauty of the water!
Creme Cottage Update
Happy Wednesday Creme Foodies! How is this massive heat wave treating you all? Oh summer is here for sure... I don’t know about you, but I am about ready to wilt! Hopefully none of this heat and humidity has kept you out of the kitchen— or off the grill! Wait until the sun goes down a little and I promise it is the perfect setting for grilling, which is why I have a sure-to-please grilling recipe for you today. But more on that in a moment!
Tour the Beginning of Creme Cottage in the Woods
2021 has arrived and with it comes many hopes for a better year! 2020 was strange at best, wouldn’t you say? With all the changes in the world came big ones for us as well. No more in-house cooking classes, a new career opportunity for my husband, new schools, and a HUGE move! Just a bit of quick history to begin, we built our former home on Skyline in 2015. Our family spent an amazing 5 years there enjoying the Elkhorn river valley sunsets, crazy wildlife, and meeting hundreds of great people (and wonderful cooks!) in my kitchen.
Christmas at the Lakehouse
Most of you know what our little lake house in means to me. It sits very unassumingly at the northern tip of beautiful Lake Poinsett in South Dakota, the 2nd largest natural lake in the state. It is my happy place. It’s the place where we love to boat and fish in the summer and get cozy in the Winter.
The Best Time to Cook
Seems to me lots of people will be cooking at home now— more than ever. Consider me your resource for all things food ♥️ For the next few weeks, I thought it would be fun and helpful to give you three recipes, all based on one main dish! With it, you can make three separate and easy meals. I will include not only a recipe at the end of the video class, but a shopping list you can take with you to the store! Most items in the recipe are usually in your pantry or super easy to find at your local grocery store.
Kitchen Mishaps, They Happen to Us All
Ok guys let’s talk kitchen mistakes, shall we? I don’t care how long you have been cooking or baking in the kitchen—we all make mistakes. I have never been shy about sharing mine. Back when I was doing my cooking classes I proudly showed off any or all mistakes during the time spent I taught in my kitchen. Some of my mistakes had turned into great achievements— but most haven’t.
Halloween: Done Dreessen Style!
Happy spooky season! One of my favorites of the year. As always, we hosted an amazing halloween party, with friends and family gathered to celebrate! So for this blog post, I just wanted to feature some of the amazing costumes that came through the door, and also our spooky, delicious spread of food and drink!
Fall is in the Air, and Around your Front Door!
Once the leaves start turning colors and falling to the ground, and when the air has a nice crisp to it, its time to start thinking about Fall decorating. To meet the colors of the leaves and a touch of the season to come, it makes sense to start by the front door! Pumpkins and mums and outdoor candle holders are a great way to start. Choose 2-3 colors and go from there. When I lay out my plan for decor, I usually use one area and fill it up with flair! Choosing a couple colors to work off of helps balance your end result and keeps things looking clean, traditional, and timeless.
Donut Cake Birthday Bash!
My youngest. What to do with another birthday… sigh. Time seems to tick on quicker than I would like. How in the world— and I mean this— is my youngest entering her teenage years? I still feel like she is small enough to ride this little plastic Barbie horse across our woods floors in her footie jammies. Okay, who are we kidding. She wasn’t even small enough to do it then (sorry plastic barbie horse).
Back to School... Already?
Does anyone out there love back to school shopping more than me?!? Anyone?!! Um. Yeah I don’t. It’s not even the middle of July and yet I find myself and my cart in that infamous aisle, the ceiling and walls plastered with reminders that the summer season is coming to a close. I don’t care how early you start how many kids you have, how old they are, or even how nice or well mannered they are-it is never that fun. Ever. School lists. Dress codes. Kleenex tissue.
Fourth of July Bash
Hello, and happy Saturday! There is a major holiday around the corner and, as I promised, it is time I shared some of my favorite holiday traditions. I LOVE tradition. From food, to decorating I am a fan and try very hard to make lasting and loving traditions for my family. (Because honestly I expect the favor back when I am too old and too tired haha!)
A Welcome
Summer is right around the corner.
Despite all the rain, (which I don’t mind for my gardens sake!) summer has already started in the Dreessen home. Kids are out of school and I have finally decided to take some time off from my cooking classes to create some memories in the kitchen with my own family. What will my summer look like? Oh, trust me, you will see...
